This project involved the design and production of a custom playing card deck inspired by Tłı̨chǫ culture, language, and traditions. The cards were created as both a functional game piece and an educational tool, incorporating Tłı̨chǫ cultural elements into every detail of the design. Traditional playing card figures were reimagined through a Tłı̨chǫ perspective, with the Queen represented as an Elder, the King as Chief Mowhi, and the Jack represented as a Cook, reflecting the meaning of the Tłı̨chǫ word associated with the jack card. The Joker was transformed into a Raven, a significant figure within Tłı̨chǫ stories and cultural teachings. The deck also features beadwork-inspired patterns on the card backs and includes Tłı̨chǫ translations for numbers and suits, creating an engaging way to support language learning while celebrating cultural identity through design.
